Who is Hu

a year ago, a headline " who is hu" posted in the wall street journal mentioned the new country leader in mainland china. it impressed me a lot because my son also named hu that makes him very unique in many circumstance.

while hu just transferred to SUNY preschool from jcc, he soon became so popular that all his friends liked to mention him to their parents day by day. since he was new, not many parents knew his name quite well. in one pta, there was one parent shared with me one story about her conversation between her and her daughter. she said that she was so confused about "who is hu" since in the beginning of the semester. her daughter ,one of hu's girlfriends, liked to say "hu is doing a great job" or "hu is going to taiwan". the mom replied right after each sentence. but her daughter told her that she didn't ask any questions. she explained again that hu is my friend. then her mom regarded all she said "hu" as "who" so that she kept answering all her questions. finally her mom lost her temper asking" who is hu." and "who are you talking about, anyway" her daughter said again " hu is my friend" ....the conversation between the parent and the child finally got a clue. the mom just realized hu is a person ...not that question word who...
hu was born in the year of tiger. tiger was read as hu in chinese. he moved to america while ten months old, we would like to keep his chinese identity so that hu became both of his chinese and english names. it was about the time we left taiwan . there was a very famous and popular local cartoon called chiao hu island introduced in taiwan. while we returned to taipei. hu just realized how popular he was...every body remebered him as well as his name
